Melinda’s writing journey began in grade school when she lived in rural Georgia next to a neglected, wooded 100-year-old cemetery. She began writing mystery stories that revolved around the graveyard; the tales enjoyed wide readership at Bouldercrest Elementary. Much later, after earning her M.A. in communication studies at Colorado State University, she wrote scripts for commercial video as well as five, speculative film scripts. One of these, a TV pilot about a group of specialized forest rangers who assisted law enforcement with rescues and criminal investigations, received a one-year option from an L.A. production company. Now at CSU writing web content and feature stories, she has turned to writing her first novel, a fantasy adventure for middle grade readers.
