Please note: our website is undergoing extensive revision and updating February through April 2009. Check back often. And pardon our digital dust!
It's the 15th Anniversary of the Slow Sand Writers Society! Welcome to our site. For
three hours every other Tuesday evening, our group gathers to share our trials,
celebrate our successes, critique one another's work, trade
suggestions, and sometimes deliver good, swift kicks.
Since our
first meeting in 1994, scores of our short stories and personal essays
have been published in respected literary journals, leading national
magazines, and literary anthologies. We've won state and national writing
awards, fellowships for both fiction and nonfiction, and have had many books
published. These successes may not have happened at all without the encouragement of our fellow Sanders.

Joining the Slow Sanders
Although the Slow Sand Writers Society is at maximum enrollment today, we are happy to keep your application materials on file. We require a 15-20 page prose sample (fiction or nonfiction; sorry no poetry), a resume or narrative of your writing experience and publications, and a statement about your writing goals and your reasons for wanting to join our writing group. If you are not acquainted with one of our members, we also interview you. Send materials to the email address on the left and we'll contact you. Check back next summer to take advantage of our online application process.
In the meantime, you may wish to visit the website of Northern Colorado Writers, an organization that sponsors conferences, holds monthly meetings, and provides resources for local writers to stay in touch.
